The NGO Ukrainian Alliance provides classes free of charge as part of an educational program to improve the level of spoken English among young people.

Training takes place once a week as part of the Speaking club project.

Currently, classes are held in the auditorium of the M. Maksymovych Scientific Library of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, with whose management we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

Each class discusses socially important topics that are relevant to the projects of the Ukrainian Alliance.

The course teachers are graduates of international programs who have lived and studied directly in an English-speaking environment. They have certificates confirming their level of knowledge (IELTS, TOEFL, CELTA).

When preparing for a lesson, teachers select the necessary vocabulary and send it to students by email or in one of the messengers with a Speaking Club chat.

The first part of the lesson is a discussion of questions and theses by students in pairs, which are formed based on their level of spoken English. When the participants adapt, the teachers change their places. This is done to develop communication skills and acquire new vocabulary and grammar.

Teachers monitor the progress of the lesson and correct students if they make a mistake, always ready to help and explain unclear aspects.

The second part is watching videos, listening to audio files, and discussing what they have learned to consolidate the material on the topic. And to improve the informal atmosphere of communication between participants, teachers give assignments in a game form.

New participants can register for the classes by filling out a Google form. After that, the project curator adds them to a group chat in one of the messengers. This is where the main communication with each other and with the teachers takes place. Class materials are saved, so all participants can use them an unlimited number of times and at any time.

For potential participants, the level of language proficiency is not important, the main thing is desire and inspiration. Everyone is welcome to participate.
